This pilot was intended to help the NMC community learn about open educational resources (OER) and how we can best use OER to make college more affordable for our students.
The project sponsored ten NMC faculty to revise one of their courses to use only free resources. Each of the ten faculty received an iPad (or other tablet of comparable value) or $500. Librarians helped faculty find potential materials; Educational Media Technologies provided technical and instructional design support.
The OER Pilot Project Team thanks the NMC Foundation and the wonderful group of faculty who made this project possible!
Michigan Colleges Online is an initiative of the Michigan Community College Association and the 28 Michigan community colleges (including NMC). The MCO provides this opportunity for the member institutions as a way to increase student success and completion, reduce costs for students and allow for inter-institutional collaboration with faculty.
This group shares a hub on OER Commons, where members can share and curate resources. Check it out!
